How CCF Served Our Guests in 2011

The numbers are in and, while numbers can never tell the whole story, they nevertheless are helpful in gauging how well we served the poor and homeless community.
Here are some data elements:
        GUEST REGISTRATIONS                24,212
               (47.62% African American, 49.43% Caucasian,1.96% Hispanic,0.99% Asian)
        SHOWERS                                          7,758
        LOADS OF LAUNDRY                        4,019
        MEALS SERVED                              40,619
Nearly 500 of our guests were "first-timers." 1,442 guests had conferences with staff concerning a wide-variety of issues ranging from where they might go for a service not provided by CCF to having an important document notarized. It is also revealing to remind the public that we allow use of our telephone and our address as a mail drop. Numbers are not kept for these services, but they would be extensive.
Thanks to those who supported CCF financially during 2011, we finished the year with money in our bank account. It should also be noted that the CCF staff exercised diligence during the year and spent nearly 9% less than was budgeted.
As always, if there are questions regarding these numbers or if additional information is desired, simply contact us. (See contact information above.)

Supporters Rally to CCF

Nearly 300 persons gathered for 2 fundraising breakfasts in November; the first on November 10 at Brentwood United Methodist Church and the second on November 17 at Hermitage Golf Course. After an excellent breakfast, everyone got to see our new video. This production highlighted personal interviews with persons who have been closely associated with CCF, including one of our guests, Chris Woods. (Pictured above and also in the Gallery.) Chris told a moving story about winding up on the streets after a series of illnesses in his family and eventually for himself, during which he lost his business. CCF helped him again find himself; he has been sober now for several months, and is again on his feet. The video also included statements from a volunteer and a staff member.
Prior to the video, we heard a moving presentation from Rev. Pat Freudenthal about the ministry of CCF and the importance of not just making a financial contribution but rather becoming involved on a personal level.
Board of Directors President Bruce Long invited attendees to complete pledge cards. Preliminary estimates of giving at these 2 events are now over $100,000 and, if past experience is any guide, contributions will continue to arrive for several weeks.

Donelson Christian Academy Annual Food Drive

Picture
For several years now, the Student Council of DCA has planned and conducted a drive to collect food for Nashville non-profits. Originally, the food went to Second Harvest Food Bank but the collections became so large that the Student Council sought a place to share the donations. Fortunately for CCF, Lalia Click, Secretary of our Board of Directors, is also on the faculty at DCA. The rest is history.
The program is totally student-run. The Council devised a "Spirit Point" competition between classes. (A 16-ounce can counts 1 point, 1 pint of detergent counts 5 points, etc. Points can be earned in various ways; for example, there are periodic "dress down" days, when students are not required to wear uniforms. But they have to "pay" for this privilege either by bringing some food/household product to school or make a cash donation. In addition to all of the food delivered this year, there was also $1000 in cash!) This year, the food was delivered on 2 busses from DCA, with the group pictured joining in not only unloading and taking the food inside, but also organizing it on our storage shelving.
The work of the Student Council is supported by Kathye Loftis, their Sponsor. Rev. Pat traveled to DCA on Monday, November 21 to personally thank the students on behalf of the guests of CCF
